Eligibility
This exhibition is open to all Northeast Wisconsin Watercolor Society Members. The Richeson Gallery is able to display between 48 and 65 artworks depending on the sizes of submitted artworks. Each member of is invited to submit multiple pieces for the exhibition (the artwork limit per artist will be decided by the group’s organizing body) that reaches the suggested number of artworks listed above.
Richeson Gallery asks participating artists to email one or more images of art to be submitted for promotional purposes. Please send images to artschool@richesonart.com JPEGS are acceptable and must be named in the following format:
Artist Last Name, Artist First Initial, Underscore, Art Title.
Example: SmithJ_blueskymorning
Acceptable Artwork
- Wall-hung (2-D) art may be entered and may be created with oils, oil pastels, acrylic, soft pastels, drawing/dry media, watercolor, gouache, casein.
- Two Dimensional –Image including frame may not exceed 36” inches on any side and may not weigh more than 50 lbs.
- Works must have been created within the past 2 years.
- Cradled panels MUST be a minimum of two inches thick. Our space is large and in it, thin panels lack presence, getting overwhelmed. Cradled panel edges must be finished.
- All wall hung artwork - framed and cradled - MUST be wired and we strongly encourage the use of D Ring findings. NO CLIPS OR SAW TOOTH HANGERS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Artworks dropped off without the appropriate hanging accessories will not be accepted. Richeson Gallery offers artwork wiring for a fee of $20 per artwork if artists are unable to provide appropriate hanging accessories.
- Artworks with the points from nails or staples protruding from the frame will not be accepted.
- Artworks that have been featured in previous Richeson Gallery exhibitions may be refused by the gallery manager.
- Submitted artwork MUST have an identification label securely attached to the back. Label must include: Artist Name, email address, phone number, painting title, medium, and artwork price. Please email the information on the identification label to the gallery prior to dropping off or shipping the artwork.
Image Use
By entering work in this exhibition, the artist gives Richeson School of Art and Gallery the right to use images for 2025 Northeast Wisconsin Watercolor Society Members Exhibition digital, print and web promotions.
Sales
Work need not be for sale to be eligible for the exhibition. Richeson School of Art & Gallery will make every effort to encourage sale of work available for purchase. Richeson Art School and Gallery will retain a 25% commission for all sales of work from this exhibition. Jack Richeson & Co. requires a completed W9 tax form prior to releasing payment for art sales. Richeson School of Art & Gallery will provide the W9 form upon sale notification. Payment for sales will be mailed to the artist within 30 days of the close of the exhibit. Artwork must remain on site until the final date of the exhibit.
Presentation
All entries must be suitably framed and wired for hanging (no clips or saw-tooth hangers will be accepted). Dhooks with non-slip wire are preferred. Gallery-Wrap canvas or cradled panel is acceptable as long as the sides are neatly painted/ finished. Gallery-Wrap canvas must have a depth of 1-1/2" to 2" and must comply with hanging specifications listed above. No staples can be visible on the sides of the canvas. Works on paper must be framed and glazed (plexiglas recommended).
Delivery/Shipping
Shipped work must be sent in a reusable container. The artist is responsible for the cost of shipping to and from Richeson School of Art & Gallery. Richeson Gallery recommends including pre-paid shipping labels in the shipment container. In the case that an artist does not include a return shipping label, Gallery staff will contact the artist at the end of the exhibition to take payment for shipping via credit card. Richeson Gallery will make every effort to make affordable and safe shipping options available to the artist.
Liability
For in-gallery exhibits, artists should insure their hand-delivered or shipped work, as Jack Richeson & Co., Inc. and/or its subsidiaries is not liable for damage to artwork in transit or during display at Richeson School of Art & Gallery.
